Fawn at the Door to my Cabin

This little guy was sleeping and hiding along side the steps to my cabin in Hocking County, Ohio on May 14, 2011. It was well protected from wind and rain and stayed there until mother came to get it sometime over night. I once opened the door to find mother coming over the hill only to turn around and leave when she saw I was at the door. She came and got the fawn sometime over night. I did spot them later the next day several hundred yards down the road. I have some images from a "trail camera" that shows mother and fawn together in the front yard as early as May 12. The little guy was very patient with me as this is the only way to gain access to the cabin when it's been locked up. It did as they are supposed to do - not move. But it did keep a careful eye on me as I moved around it. And eventually it became a little more curious and sniffed the air as I entered the cabin.

And then on Monday, May 16, I had to revisit the cabin to meet a repair person. As my friend and I were sitting in the cabin eating lunch I kept looking at this brown stuff by the daffodil leaves. I asked him what it was, Oh nothing. Then after a while it moved. Turns out it was another fawn. It was very tiny and probably born earlier that morning. You can see in the last few images how tiny it was when compared to the daffodil leaves. Enjoy!
