Great Smoky Mountains National Park

June 15-18, 2010

Yes, this was one quick trip! But it turned out to be a nice trip none-the-less.

Linda, our friend Joyce, and I ventured to Gatlinburg, Tennesse for a few days. While Gatlinburg is not my idea of a fun time it worked out just fine. We did one joint hike to Laurel Falls (along with nearly every other visitor to the park) and I did one hike on my own to Rainbow Falls (and luckily it was not a busy place). We did the obligatory tour of Cades Cove (twice) and visited other places along the way. And of course as you can see we drove to near "the gap" to take in two sunsets. I suspect the best sunset was the night we were out checking out the scenery along the Little Pigeon River and the trail heads along Porter Creek. So no mountain sunsets that night but I did capture the foggy light along Porter Creek where it dumps into the Little Pigeon River.

Maybe some day I'll visit there in fall.
